
Moving Advice
Whenever you are moving to Spain, France or locally, it really pays to make sure your move is meticulously planned. As always, time spent in the planning phase will save you time later looking for toaster or kettle, or your child's favourite toy.
Some really simple tips should stand you in good steed for a hassle-free move:
- Book early. (As soon as you know the date of your intended move, make a booking!)
- Inform people about your new address.
What you need to pack well:
- Boxes
- Bubble wrap
- Marking pen
- Newspaper
- Scissors
- Brown tape
How to label a box:
- Which room should it go in
- Brief overview of contents
- If it is fragile
- Other loading instruments i.e. should be unloaded last
An overall handy check list:
- Dump all unwanted goods
- Remember to try to eat freezer goods rather than transporting them
- Take meter readings and call the relevant authorities
- Notify bank/credit card companies
- Notify telephone/mobile company
- Notify doctor/register new doctor if different area
- Reroute post at least 1 month to make sure you do not miss any post
- Notify TV license and car registration
- Clear the attic
- Cancel milk and newspapers
